www.AVProjectManagement.Org Goes Live June 1, 2004
San Francisco, CA—Tide Pool Productions is pleased to announce that www.AVProjectManagement.org goes live on June 1, 2004.
The website and forum is designed specifically for audiovisual design, engineering and installation professionals who work in all types of buildings, facilities and industries. The site contains information bulletin boards on products, problems and solutions as well as tips, tricks and ways to work faster, more consistently and profitably.
The need for this site came out of the AV Project Management class developed by Steve Thorburn, Thorburn Associates, Inc., for ICIA. Many of the students attending the 4-day course during the last two years have commented on the lack of resources available for project managers in the audiovisual industry. “Most of the information available on Project Management is geared towards larger, multi-million dollar projects, not the smaller projects our industry is typically involved in.” states Thorburn. “These resources assume that a project manager is only involved in one, or at most two, projects at a time and has support staff available to help manage and track the various parts of the project. In our industry, project mangers often have 15 to 30 active projects at one time. We need a resource, such as the AVProjectManagement.org forum, where we can get advice from others in our industry who are facing similar challenges on a daily basis.”
In addition to the forum, the site includes a regular column where visitors can ask questions about the human side of project management. The “Ask Bill” section is hosted by Bill Sharer, CTS, Exxel Management and Marketing. Here readers can find the answers to such nitty gritty questions as “Is going to a trade show really an employee reward?”
Other items included in this site are daily headline news articles on current happening in technology and audiovisual sectors, links to just about any company involved in the AV industry, press releases and updates from AV manufacturers and industry companies, as well as a library section with book reviews, definitions for common industry terminology, article reprints and other resources.
This is a site every AV industry professional will want to book mark and visit on a regular basis! _____________________________________________________________________ Tide Pool Productions, is the host for this site. Contact Lisa Thorburn at 510.727.8808 or Marketing@AVProjectManagement.org for additional information.

MEDIA VISION USA INTRODUCES FIRST WIRELESS CONFERENCING SOLUTION TO ITS EXISTING PRODUCT LINE San Francisco, CA, May15, 2004: Media Vision USA has announced it will offer for the first time Close-Talk wireless conference and voting systems. The Close-Talk IR conferencing system, with its excellent design and quality, will be on display and demonstrated at the Media Vision USA booth during the InfoComm 2004 scheduled in June 2004. “The advantages of wireless Infrared technology are boundless, particularly in complex conferencing settings that demand flawless and accurate delivery and execution,” states Fardad Zabetian, president of Media Vision U.S.A. “We are pleased to offer our customers a sophisticated and advanced alternative to conferencing in the form of wireless technology, to meet the growing demands of today’s market.” Consisting of a central unit, an optional number of delegate units and one or more transceiver units, Close-Talk’s secure wireless conference system has numerous advantages over RF and non-wireless conferencing systems. The wireless system uses up to six infrared communications channels to transmit sound from the transceiver to delegate units, allowing multiple speakers to speak simultaneously, and eliminating bugging and interference with other wireless systems. The RS-232 serial port on the central unit enables communication to a PC as well as control devices such as AMX and Crestron. Both speakers and headphone levels in the delegate stations are adjustable. Unlike existing RF Radio Frequency systems, the wireless system is fully secure. It is also economical and very competitive in price, as well as ideal for teleconferencing purposes with the input/output in the central unit. "Wireless conferencing is the solution many technology managers at distance learning centers and corporate boardrooms have been looking for,” said Frank Halter, a Media Vision USA sale representative from Houston. “Their most common complaint is wires on the tables.” Other technical advantages of the Close-Talk wireless system include: PC/Windows compatibility, and expandable conference functionality and voting capabilities that include full speaker list control and archiving; battery charged units that last up to 25 hours; and the ability to handle up to 256 speakers and support up to 10 transceiver units. The detachable microphones and the carrying case also make Close-Talk conference solution ideal for rental applications. "The need for portable and wireless systems in high-end boardrooms has finally been met,” said Roy Pass, Media Vision USA sales representative from the DC metropolitan area. “I am excited to be able to offer a fully secure wireless conference system to our customers in the government and corporate sector". The wireless conferencing system is now available through the existing Media Vision USA sales network across the country.
